It's Piggyingz first day of work today!
Woke up at 630 am. Very early. Wanna give myself more time to prepare and leave house earlier. Dun wanna be late on the first day. Have to report to HR office at UOB Plaza first before going to Novena to report to work.
830am: Reached UOB Plaza 1. Half an hour earlier. Supposed to report at 9am. Rot around..waiting to go up the lift at 845. Reached the reception at 850 cos waited for the lift for like 5 minutes..haha. By the time I reached, there were already a couple of people waiting there.
855am: Saw Sarine walking into the office. She saw me and say Hi..then went into the office. More and more pple coming in. Think there are about at least 20 pple reporting for their first day of work.
900am: Sarine says she is still expecting someone. So we will wait for her before she briefed us together.
910am: Sarine briefed me and the other new gal. She is called Jennifer, an Indonesian Chinese from NUS. Seems like we can click quite well although we are like total strangers. So Sarine gave us a stack of forms to fill up.
920am: Went down to level 4 to make staff batch so that Jennifer can use it to open a UOB account..I already have one so I dun need to open another one. But the queue was like so long, the uncle told us to come back at 2 pm...but we can't afford to cos we need to report at Novena. So, we told the uncle that we will just queue.
930am: Jennifer got a form from Sarine to verify that she is an employee then we proceeded to the banking hall so that she can open an account.
1000am: Went back to the staff card centre and queue up. Waited and waited....finally....at
1110am: We got our cards. Ya that is how long it took..can imagine the no. of new employees today. So, we hurried to Novena cos the lunch time is 12 and Sarine says that they are waiting for us there liao.
1145am: Reached our office. Was ushered to our training room. It is called U.O.B. Hee..stands for University of Banking. Hee cute hor.
1210pm: The other two new gals came. This is not their first job. They were working in other banks previously. One is called Sara and the other Josephine. The trainer, Wendy, gave us a brief introduction..She said that we are actually working office hours which came as a surprise to all the 4 of us I would say. She says we will be in the SSD dept...specialized services dept where we handle specialized calls, calls from corporate and high net worth individuals...so is normally office hours..five days work but will rotate to work on Saturdays occassionally. So happy to hear that. But still cannot be too happy yet..cos its stated that we will be working shifts...but maybe their definition of shifts is not the normal kind where u work morning, afternoon and night ba. Then, she showed us the two impt places..haha the pantry and the washroom and we break off for lunch.
1230pm:The 4 of us went to Long John Silvers to have our lunch. Had a nice time getting to know each other.
2pm - 530pm: Had a long break today cos Wendy says its the first day. Haha. Wendy started her presentation on the ABS code of conduct and the introduction of the call centre itself. Then there is the office tour to introduce us to the HOD but onli managed to meet with a few cos the rest in meeting. Realised that the three interviewers who interview me are actually my head of department and two team managers.
530pm: The guy who interviewed me who is the team manager is called Leon..came in with a stack of forms to fill up..to apply for this and that..so we spent like half an hour to fill it up.
600pm: Wendy came in with another stack of notes..realised that its the notes for tmr's training..it will be really intensive cos they will be opening a new line on Friday on remittances..So, they need manpower urgently to handle this new set of calls. So, we will have three days to learn all the different accounts, cheques, credit cards and remittances etc...then we will be independent to take calls liao...even Wendy says that its kinda rush but told us not to be too nervous abt it....seems kinda exciting..so fast..didn't expect it too.
630pm: The day ended on a nice note. Looking forward to the intensive training tmr...shall go and read up liao....six stacks of notes...haha.
