Final Interview at UOB
Reached at 255 p.m. On time. Sarine told me 5 mins before 3 p.m. Haha. So I timed myself to go up the lift at 2.50 p.m.(ok. The lift didn't take 5 mins. Around there lah.) Was at Novena at 230. But wander for a while there..went to recee where is Tower B. Novena Square. Tower B. 7th floor..that is the venue for the interview. Realised that the whole floor is UOB Call Center itself. So was thinking..ok if I get the job, I will be working here. Good. Not very far from my house. 5 MRT stops from YCK.. Good. Better do well for this interview then. Ushered to a room which became the interview room later. Waited for about 10 mins which is good cos I managed to settle down and stay very calm.
Someone knocked the door and came in. Three interviewers in all. The first one who shook hands with me was a guy but I couldn't catch his name. Opps. The second was a young lady called Ashley if I am not wrong. The last person is the person whom I am supposed to look for. She is called Ms Valerie Aeria. The interview is conducted over a round table. I liked it. Not as terrifying as like all of them sit one side, then u sit alone at the other side one.
Starting of shooting of questions. The three interviewers each have their fair share of shooting questions. Haha. Let me see. What are the questions that I can remember? Haha. Write it down for future use ba. Haha. Got those standard kind and more challenging ones. A mixture I would say.
1. Can you tell me more about yourself.
---Talked about why I chose NTU and the activities I were in.
2. Why do you want to work in UOB?
---One of the first banks to come to NTU. Attended Campus Career Forum. Liked the culture. The training programme. How UOB actually carved a clear career path for fresh grads like us. Became interested in call centre itself. Talked to vp and avp. More interested. So follow up...
3. Why did u choose call centre instead of other departments?
---I am a very pple person. Dun really like crunching nos.
4. You said you were an extrovert but this is a desk bound job, will it be too boring for you?
---Nope. I dun think it is boring at all. You are handling customers everyday and they can ask any questions so you must always be prepared to solve the customer's problems.
5. It seems that you are mostly the one who initiates things but in customer service, you have to be a good listener. Can I hear your views on this?
---I can be a good listener too. I am not always a leader. I can be a leader and a follower, depending on the situation.
6. What are your strengths?
---Self-motivated, optimistic, hardworking, good communicator. Haha I didn't give a laundry list..scared later they think I very hao lian. Say so many strengths.
7. Do you have any weaknesses?
---"Yes of course. Rather than say it as weaknesses, I would say it as something that I would like to improve on...Perfectionist and lack of experiences."
8. How do you define "Customer Service"?
---"Sincerity"
9. Are you still involved in your school activities?
---Not really. I have retired.
10. How do you see yourself 2 years down the road?
---Rise to a team leader.
11. Are you planning to further your studies?
---Yes, if there is the opportunity.
12. You like to read The Edge and the Asian Wall Street Journal?
---Haha. This qn is funny. Cos the resume that they received is wat I sent in February. Now at home, dun have liao. So I told them frankly that at first, I was forced to read them bcos of one module where the tutor forced us to read. Haha. But it gets interesting after a while. So now, I will try to grab hold of it if possible. Ok this is abt the gist of how I answer it...just that in a more professional way. No Haha here and there.
Ok the answers here are just the gist. For every one sentence that u see here..can multiply it by at least 5 times. Haha. So you can see how much I have talked in the short span of 30 mins. What a feat. Haha. They must be thinking I very talkative.
Then the time came when they started to have their mini conversation, asking each other whether they have any more questions for me. No more. So, they asked me whether I have any questions for them. Ha..must go and dig out some questions to ask them although most of the questions that I wanted to ask I already asked during the first interview. So, I asked them whether this is the last interview or are there anymore interviews. Haha. Answer is this is the last interview. So whether I get it or not depends on this interview liao.
Anyway, realised that there are a lot of depts in the call centre itself. If I am shortlisted, think I will be in the dept where they handle high net worth individuals ba..sounds challenging. Really hope I get it.
So, in about half an hour's time, the interview is over and I will noe the results in one week's time.
