Trip to International Plaza

Today, I went to International Plaza with Wendy. She made an appointment with this lady from XXX. Heard from Wendy that she helps pple find banking related jobs. So, I had a small talk with her. And she asked me, so will you be getting your honours? Then, I said to be on the safe side, it should be a pass with merit cos I dun think i will be able to get my honours. She was kinda sacarstic I feel by saying, "WAH! NO HONOURS! That will be hard you noe. Most banks need pple with honours." So, i just replied quite sacarstically I feel, "but there is nothing I could do now ma. I mean I finished my last exams already." Think she is just being frank but I tot she is not being very tactful in a way. Wendy agreed with me that she is kinda snobbish. Look down on pple who dun get honours. Our former later president, Mr. Wee Kim Wee was also not a degree holder when he became president of Singapore ba but he still succceded in life and became a president that so many pple adored.

Then, she carried on and ask, "So, went for any job interviews so far?" So, I just told her, "Nope but I had a phone interview with UOB for the position of customer service officer." As expected, her immediate reaction (and a kind of this-kind-of-job-you-also-want kind of face), "You sure you want this kind of job? Not much prospects you noe...this kind of skills set wun bring you far leh..." ok, that is enough, first she says I have no honours, hard to get a good job then she commented on me wanting to be a customer service officer. Does she have a problem or not? Its not as if I dun have honours and I am asking her to find some high end job for me lor...I am just asking her to find a job for me. Is there a need to be so sarcastic? Haiz. Think she has very low EQ. And she keeps asking me and Wendy whether we have any friends who are looking for jobs...and whether we can introduce them to her..think she just want to get more money so that can earn more money. ok, I will not deny the fact that she opened this company to earn money but if she continue to be soooo sacarstic, that will be the end of her company! haha.

Then we also went to a no. of job agencies. Some of them just gave us their namecards and told us to go to their website and post our resumes. Some told us to fill in some forms and will talk to us regarding the kind of jobs that we want. There is this one particular company..really cannot make it. When we went in, we asked is this a recruitment firm, this guy with a blur blur look says yes..so we were waiting for him to give us some forms to fill up or something like that, but he just stood there. So, we asked again, so what do we have to give? Then, he just give us this small pathetic piece of flimpsy paper..yes its paper not namecard...this is still ok but the piece of paper is so small that I have trouble looking at the words..that is how small it is..really a very environmetal friendly firm..haha..sacarstic me. Then I asked,"May I know what kind of companies do your firm deal with?" This guy gave me the, "Huh!" look and he referred me to another person...haha then the person who came just say,"Just post your resume. We will call you if you meet the company's requirements." Duh.

Little Led Liding Hoot

During one of the SM lectures that I had, Ms Pamsy actually used this example. But I can't remember she used this for which chapter and how it actually tied in with SM. I think she wanted to illustrate to us that we will be able to understand something better if we already have some basic knowledge about it. In the following example for instance, Singaporeans will be able to appreciate this better compared to a Caucasian who doesn't know any Singlish at all.

Little Led Liding Hoot (M'sian and Singlish ver)

Once upon a time hor, got one girl little led liding hoot. She want to go to Ah Mah's house. Morning alleady she go out one, she got take come one basket to put flower. She "do want" to walk long-long so go take shot cut. Wah!!! she dono got one animal follow her one hor! She happy-happy walk until she come to Ah Mah house.

"Ah Mah! Ah Mah! I come, open the door leh?" she talk. Then Ah Mah also talk back, "Come in lah I never close one" Little Led Liding Hoot open the house and go inside door..... oh, solly solly....open the door and go inside the house, she got see her Ah Mah on top of the bed. She go ask Ah Mah.

"AH Mah, how come your eye vely big one hor?"

"So I can see you maahhhhh!!!" Ah Mah say back.

"Ah Mah, how come your year vely long one?"

"So vely easy to hear you one laah!!!!"

"Ah Mah, how come......."

"Aiyaa!!!! SO many question one ah you.... never die before heh?"

"Solylah Ah Mah, I dono mah that's why I ask".

"What soly-soly! Now I want to eat you, I not Ah Mah, I animal one you know................."

Wah! Little led liding Hoot vely scared one, she scleam vely loud but late alleady, the animal alleady eat her. She now inside stomach one. Suddenly got one people, cut wood one, go inside the house. He want to save Little Led Liding Hoot, he go and cut the animal stomach and take out everything, but he too late,

Its 130 am now on Monday morning. Its a public holiday cos yesterday was labour day. Dear Dear came back from his soccer match. Man U won against Charlton, 4-0. Hee..so I supposed Dear Dear is in quite a good mood. Introduced the Petals around the Rose game to Dear Dear. He figured it out in 5 mins. I think the part about the smarter you are, the longer you will take to solve the puzzle is not really true. Its just there to attract pple to play the game thats all. Haha. Still think its a very fun game and everyone should at least give it a try. But those who have figured it out shouldn't say it out. If not, it will spoil the fun of it all.

Went access lab today. Wanted to have Mac for lunch one. Went all the way to Canteen A then realised that its labour day, so Mac is not opened. So have to walk back to S4 feeling kinda disappointed. Had a craving for Mac. So no choice, went to Canteen 3, the onli place with food. Ordered "luo mee" but it doesn't taste nice at all. Think the nicest "luo mee" that I have ever tried is the one at my house.

Felt sleepy after lunch as usual. Slept on the table and woke up with numb arms and legs. Haha. Spent the whole day reading the May Her World. Dear Dear couldn't believe that I could actually spend the whole day reading it. He said at most he will take two hours?? That's the max. But no, I dun. I will even read the advertisements. Mostly about cosmetics. I am not one who puts on make-up a lot but I liked reading about the different kinds of make-up that are available in the market and the wonders that they can do to improve one's appearance. I might need them more when I start work in a few months' time I think. Talking about work, didn't do anything constructive about finding a job. Haha. Its the holidays. So, give myself a break. K, I promise I will finish up the application for the position of credit operations officer at ABN AMRO today. Just try my luck although customer service is what I really want. Hopefully, will get a call on Tuesday. Please. Give me a call. Sounds desparate, huh. Need money to go Taiwan. If there is a job waiting for me, can spend money with more ease. Heh.

Petals Around The Rose

Went to Mingyi's blog and saw an entry on Petals Around the Rose. She says that you can try it when you are bored. I was kinda bored cos there are no good shows on tv and I dun really want to surf the internet for any jobs. So, I went to the link provided, http://crux.baker.edu/cdavis09/roses.html. So I read the instructions and I was so excited to plunge into the game straight and wanna see how smart I am.

Think I tried for about 10 minutes and a dozen tries but I could not get the answer. Was really frustrated. So I went to read the comments that people who have tried the game posted, thinking that there might be some clues to it. There were so many of them so I scanned through some of them. Got a hint that the answer lies in the name of the game and that the answer is definitely even. But still, I can't seem to solve it. Out of desparation, I went to the google search engine and I typed "Solutions to Petals Around the Rose". I know that I shouldn't do that but I think I wun be able to sleep tonite if I can't solve it. Went to the second link first. It was a forum that someone posted about the game. No clues. So I went to this website, http://www.enc.org/features/focus/archive/inquiry/document.shtm?input=FOC-000711-index#sje. Here is where I managed to see some light. It was a story about how a teacher introduced this game to the class. So, the examples were listed. And my mind I keep reminding myself that the clue to this game lies in the name of the game itself. And after like three examples, I think I got it. So, I went back to the website again and tried it. This time round, I got the answers! I am so happy that I finally solved it. Felt so dumb just now. Haha. So, if you are reading this, go and try it out! It's really fun!
